Are Facials Worth Spending On?

Are facials worth the money?

You might have been on the edge of trying out a facial because you know, that’s one of the ways you can show your skin some love and you’ve heard many raving about the results.

Or you already get facials regularly and swear by it. Last year, Americans spent $17 billion on spa services. From treatments that can hydrate your skin or minimize pores and fine lines.

The beautiful women on the posters with flawless skin make you want to open your wallets and spend on that facial. It promises you that you’ll walk out with instantly fresh and better-looking skin.

I dug a little deeper and facial have a lot more to offer than just give you an extra glow for a few hours.

Here are 5 reason why facials are SO worth it:

Reduces Anxiety

According to a study published in the journal Biomedical Research, facial massage activates your sympathetic nervous system. This reduces your anxiety levels and uplifts your mood.

There are hundreds of pressure points on your face that are connected to the systems in your body. A good facial doesn’t only help your skin glow, your body will respond to it as well.

A study in the User Science Institute in Japan reported the results of a 45 minute facial with participants between ages 20-40, the results showed significant reduction in anxiety and negative moods.

During the massage, parasympathetic nervous activity is stimulated which leads to help one relax.

Improves blood circulation

Your skin can look dull if the blood circulation under your skin has poor circulation. Poor circulation can cause the nutrients in your diet to not get absorbed.

Research shows that massage significantly improves blood circulation, blood flow, and vascular function.

A massaging facial treatment improves blood and lymph circulation, which can enhance the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to you skin making them look healthier.

The stresses of working life combined with fatigue from exhausting activities like working out, chores, long days at the office can cause your features to stiffen. Over time, the connective tissues in your face harden, and blood, oxygen and nutrients aren’t able to flow freely.

Facials can help restore the nutrient circulation and elasticity of your facial tissues and kick start the production of collagen and elastin. Both collagin and elastin are important anti-aging components that are naturally generated by the body.

Detoxify

Your lymphatic system is a network of tissues and organs, which helps to dispose toxins, wastes and other unwanted material. It also helps regenerate tissues.

According to a study, using gentle, rhythmic, relaxing strokes can give your face the appearance of a mini-facelift.

It can also helpreduce sinus congestion, bronchitis, laryngitis, acne, and eczema.

Increases absorption abilities

Getting regular facials can help your skin prepare to absorb the nutrients from other beauty products.

You might be emptying your wallet on expensive skincare however, for them to work their magic. They have to be absorbed by your skin.

Expert care

You can definitely cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize and put a mask on your face at but you won’t be doing it with an expert.

Experts usually analyze your skin and have you fill in some kind of questionnaire to match the procedure to your skin. They target whatever your skincare concern is.

Similarly, if you need further treatments (such as extraction or LED light treatment), they can suggest and conduct those, too.

So if you ask me I’ll tell you to book a facial appointment ASAP. It has a lot more benefits than you already know. It more than just scrubbing and ultra-moisturizing your skin. It has additional physiological and psychological benefits as well.
